You may have noticed.  Our top menu has changed.   Well, we've been growing.  When we released the new website in January of last year it contained a little over 150 articles about GHS.  Thanks to the contributions of the staff, parents and one particulary prolific school secretary, we've topped 600 articles published !   We wanted to improve the communications around the GHS community.  We've certainly tried.

We've got an impressive bunch of new content from the Carol Davies and the Parent Organization.   We've also got some fresh articles from Terry about the auction.  Finally, we've taken some feedback from you, our viewers, to do a little re-organizing as we added the new material.

So, let's begin with what's not changed.   Academics, Enrichment, Admissions, News and Calendar sections are all organized as they were before.  They do recieve their regular healthy flow of new articles for your perusal.

Our old Involvement section is gone.  We've taken it's material and divided it into two new sections: Giving and Parents.

The new Giving section collects all our Fund Raising information in one place including new articles about the Auction, Walk-a-thon and Annual Giving Campaign.   Take a look.

Our new Parents section includes an extensive new Volunteer section that details all of the volunteering opportunities around GHS including Events, On-Campus and Administrative activities.  It gives you all the who's, what's and when's about the many activities in our GHS community.  Many thanks to the Parent Org for pulling this great reference together.

We've also moved many of the items parents use into the Parent's section, including Forms, the Handbook, Snap Grades and the Family Directory.  This has the added benefit of streamlining our About GHS section making it easier to navigate.

We've seen you out there with your cameras.  Taking all those pictures of our wonderful kids at GHS. 

The webmaster's dilema is how to get those pictures from your camera to the GHS website and out to our GHS community.  They sit on your camera.  They sit on the webmaster's desk waiting to get uploaded.

We've created a new section called Picture Links (News>>Picture Links). 

1. Just load your pictures to your favorite photo sharing site....Picasa, Flickr, Shutterfly, etc.

3. We'll link it for the GHS community to see.

Permission of parent or guardian is obtained before a GHS student’s picture appears on the Golden Hills Website.  This permission is given in the parent school enrollment contract. The Web Site Administrator will have discretion concerning the size and placement of images on web pages. When we reference a child’s name on a web page, it is only with the child’s first name and last initial. No other personal information about a student or minor is used.

News
Lisa is now putting the Weekly Newsletter content into a new section aptly named News.   We'll continue to put the really "hot" and really "cool" stuff on the Home page.  So, check the Home page, the News section and the Featured Articles (in the left sidebar) regularly and you'll be on top of what's happening at GHS.

Photo Galleries
We're trying to sprinkle fun photos of what's going on at GHS throughout the site and we've just added a new Photo Gallery in the Events section.   There are cool galleries there of the recent Arco Arena outing, the Carnival,  the Jungle Book and several 2nd Grade events (courtesy of Mrs. Werling and 2nd Grade Photographer Denise Sparks).

Google Maps
We've added a Google Map feature to the Venue details of the Event List Calendar.  Don't get lost when trying to find a Hawks away sporting event.   Click on Events>>Event List Calendar.  Than click on a Venue.   Click on the Road Sign and up will pop a Google Map.   The link to Google Maps in the bottom left will take you to the Google Map site where you can get Directions and other cool Google stuff.  


Contributors
We're always looking for reporters and photographers with fresh GHS content.  Plain text works the best for our web site, so just type up an email with your report on a GHS Event and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  

Several of our Authors have started inputting their stuff directly into the site using our Website Contributor interface.  We are spreading this capability amongst the GHS community.  Those whose names appear in article bylines have the abilty to input.  If you'd like to join our early adopters, contact Webmaster Dave Dodds to learn how.
